Mailman - bulk operations other than subscribe/remove?

We have a mailing list, and had issues last time we tried to use it where the messages took about 5 hours to post to the list. I’d love to test this without sending test messages to all the list members. One option would be to mass-remove them, do the testing, then mass-subscribe them.

A preferable alternative would be to set each member’s “Delivery status” to disabled. Unfortunately, it looks like the only way to do that is one member at a time. Is it possible to make other actions available in bulk, either on the List Members page, where you can select one or more members, but the only actions are to Remove them or Export CSV, or perhaps somewhere else?

Is that possible?

Hi - first off, I’m really sorry you experienced that really long delay! I’m guessing it happened sometime between Sunday morning May 10 and Wednesday May 13? If so, it was most likely due to a temporary mis-configuration on our part. After fixing the mis-confiruation, we still had a big back log of messages, so we quadrupled the number of processes to send email so hopefully we can avoid a similar back log in the future.

In answer to your question, unfortunately, I don’t see any way to bulk change the status of existing members. However, you could simply create a brand new list with just one subscriber and test to that list. All email lists are handled in the exact same way on the same server, so you should not see any differences in delivery. The only reason you would see a slow down is if several very large lists all send a message just before yours. And, now that we can process four lists at the same time, it is statistically unlikely that will see a problem.
